I am what I am — and that means the full meal deal: physicality, inexperience, willingness to learn, enthusiasm, distractibility. I’ve made a conscious decision to do my very best, learn everything I reasonably can, and not measure success or failure on the first day. I know I will have helpers to whom I can go for assistance in learning and understanding things. I don’t know how much blog time I will get this week, so thank you for your patience. If you are a praying person, I would covet your prayers for deep peace, clear thinking, safety, strength, good retention of material, and a tangible sense of God’s nearness and assistance. Thanks! Let the adventure begin!

They chose YOU for a reason! They knew what they were looking for in their candidates, and obviously, your perceived inexperience was not important to them.
When I interviewed for my first teacher’s job at Mangold, Sr. Jimenez said, “Anybody can take the teacher’s book and go in and give a class. But it takes a special personality to be a good teacher.”
Well — lots of folks have more experience than you, permanent and long-term employment with the parks, and loads of knot-tying experience… but other traits are equally necessary and perhaps not as learn-able!
You go, girl…. and blog when it’s done!
love, Becky

I’d have a better time if I hadn’t had two (2) four-hour nights of sleep just beforehand. I must learn to be more centered and collected instead of putting up with my body’s sleeplessness when I’m nervous. My ride will be here any minute and I am breathing slowly and deeply.

Yes, I’ praying…I loved the pictures to see and what you gave me to imagine, being the good writer you are. All I can say is Wow Kathryn! Good for you! when the going gets tough, the tough keep going. There is a HUGE part of me that wants to be there with you to experience it all. I did climb a tree last year to get on my deck. Does that count for anything?

It counts for EVERYTHING, Snow. Anything that pushes us out of our comfort zones is a wonderful thing.
